A small update

Good morning my sweet friends

I’m missing blogging these days…

I’m missing blogging, knitting and crocheting 🙁

I have the carpal tunnel syndrome … I am having tingling and numbness in my hands … and this is making me crazy…preventing me from working with my hands… which I’m not used too…at all…

and I still have two weeks to go before my C-section due date … Grrrrr… how to pass the time when you can not do anything with your hands??? tell me…

This is a quick update with all my wips…I have to show you…even though I’m working like 1% of my usual hobby time and my fingers are hurting me like crazy…

First, my mother taught me how to follow knitting instructions from a book to make a little sweater for my baby…

It is not so difficult and I began… after many trials this is what I’ve been up to…

I’m very proud of myself 🙂 hehe and I feel like a bright new door opened for me… even though I’ll have to wait for this bad carpal tunnel syndrome to go away…

I’ve made little progress in the jacquard cushion too… adding small hearts 🙂

and more progress in the patchwork crocheted baby’s bedspread 😉

This will have to wait too…

but I’ll wait…what can I do? It is after all for a good cause 🙂

Have to go now… excuse me if I’ll be less present here in the coming days…

I’ll miss you for sure…

Big big kisses to you through this post…

See you soon 😉

You have my full sympathy – I developed carpal tunnel syndrome after my little boy was born and had to gradually build up time I could spend crocheting. Now I’m expecting our second baby and it’s flaring up again – but I see a chiropractor and his treatments really help as it releases the pressure and eases the tingling and the pain. I don’t know if you have anything similar??? Lots of love x

I know what you are feeling. I also had the carpal tunnel syndrome while I was waiting for a C-section for my third child. She had her fourth birthday on Tuesday.

What can you do? Sail the web and find ideas. Read, read a lot, always. And, of course, let people take care of you and enjoy this time of wait…

Sorry to hear about your problem but wanted to give you a heads up since I work in the Neurological field. The swelling you get when your pregnant can bring on this very easy a lot of women find after the baby is born the problem goes away. Good luck to you and baby I enjoy your blog!

I´m so sorry for you Angie! I hope you will feel better very soon!
I have just started doing an online course in fair isle knitting on craftsy. It is fun and I´m learning a lot. Maybe you can do something like this too to keep you busy.
I wish you and your little baby all the best! Many many hugs to you! Barbina

I was a bit worried about you as you had not been here for a while. How annoying for you when you have so much that you would like to do. Not long to wait now and as you say it is worth it.

Littletinbird is suffering from the same thing and like you is finding it hard not being able to crochet.

I hope that the problem goes away once your son arrives into the world.

Take care of yourself, Angie. I know how depressing it can be not to be able to use your hands – I’ve been unable to craft for nearly 2 months now and it has driven me crazy. Instead I have been reading a lot. At least you won’t have long to go – hopefully once your baby is born, your hands will be back to normal. Wishing you all the best.

Oh Angie, I’m so sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel! It must be pure agony to not be able to use your hands! I hope things improve VERY soon!!!

  20. Teresa

Take care of yourself. Like one reader posted, I would think your pregnancy is exacerbating the problem. Give it a little time and hopefully all will return to normal. I know it can be very irritating to not be able to do the things that we enjoy.

I had the same with my 4th child. The obstetrician said it was the water retention putting pressure on the nerves in my upper arm and shoulder, and it went away after my son was born and the swelling went down. I had to use a children’s pencil to write, so something to make the grip on a crochet hook bigger might help. I have seen in shops here (Canada) egg-shaped handles that can be put on crochet hooks for that purpose. Or perhaps some foam rolled around the hook and taped?

  28. Karen Lange

Oh dear, I am so sorry that you’re unable to do the crochet and other crafts that you so love! Hopefully, with lots of hand rest you’ll be back at it soon. Best wishes to you on the upcoming addition to your family….I hope and pray that all goes well.

    Hugs, Karen

These babies, sheesh! Just kidding! 🙂 I had the same thing happen when I was pregnant with my 5 month old. But I didn’t take enough time to realize what it was and just kept crocheting. I hope you feel better soon, Angie. Your knitting is absolutely beautiful! As is your crochet. You’ll be missed! But enjoy your quiet time while you can!
    Hugs and love!

Dear Angie, wishing you a speedy recovery once your little boy is born. Don’t despair and enjoy the final weeks, concentrating on yourself and on the miracle of a new life. We are all praying you will pick up your beautiful crafting soon enough. Take care!

I have been wondering how you were doing. Your knitting is really coming along. I love the jacquard colors and the pattern for the new sweater. I know how hard it is to pass the time when you cannot knit or crochet. I have RA and when that has caused me pain and I have not been able to work I have spent the time looking through knitting books planning ahead and enjoying all the beautiful work. It does not replace the actual doing but it does help.

    Hi Angie,

I had the same problem during my pregnancies. Please do take the time off and go for walks. -No hands needed : ) –

I did not rest and wear splints resulting in chronic carpal tunnel syndrome. We have splints at the drug store here (US). It is especially important to prevent your wrists from flexing while sleeping as it will cause further swelling. Acupuncture helps too. I hope you feel better soon and the days until your c-section will just fly by.

I can’t believe how great your knitting looks. It’s wonderful. I’ve been knitting for over 20 years and would have to go very slow to make a wonderful pattern like this.

Take care and feel better soon

Hi Angie, wishing you all the best in the final couple of weeks of your pregnancy. After I had my first son, I had tingling and numbness in my hands when I would try to write — I figured it had to do with the nerves rather than carpal tunnel. Pregnancy, birth, babies do all kinds of things to your body. 🙂 Take care, Tammy

Awwww! Angie, I am so sorry to hear that you have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are in so much pain!!! I missed you here on your blog so yesterday I went to your last blog to see if anyone wrote anything about where you were. I thought you had your baby and that you were just resting after having a C-section. Just a little while ago I was saying to my husband that I hope everything is okay with you because I have not seen a blog from you in over a week.

Besides from being pregnant, I wonder if knitting with those large needles, which is new for you to do, may also have put some extra pressure on your wrists with all of the twisting and turning you have to do with them. They are also very long needles that you are using. You can use smaller length needles for a small project like a baby sweater. Also, I switched from using long needles of any size to using circular knitting needles which I purchased through http://www.knitpicks.com. I don’t have the pain like I use to get from using long straight knitting needles. You can use circular needles with different length cables to handle the weight and bulkiness of even knitting a baby blanket with ease. I have made two of them myself using circular needles. I have read where many women prefer using the circular needles for almost everything they create in knitting. There are now circular crochet needles with cable lines that you can attach of different lengths. After your son is born, try a pair of circular needles for knitting and see if you like using them. I bet you will! Sending you lots hugs and kisses and a wish for your speedy recovery, Angie.

    Angie linda,
Can you show us the back of you work with the needles? (jacquard)
YOu take the yarn with you in the back?

    Regards! x

The carpel tunnel will get better, use the time to plan future projects…be pampered and enjoy the last couple of weeks as much as you can. all the best 😀 Fiona x

Oh, Angie, I feel your pain! I’ve been dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome off and on ever since I got pregnant two years ago. I’m on “rest” right now, as well, and my fingers are just itching to finish up my current project! Best of wishes to you in these last couple weeks!

  39. Tammy

I hope you are doing well. Best wishes, Tammy

    gros bisous!
