Simple thoughts: With just one click …

By
October 6, 2011

Good morning!

While I am sitting today in my favorite chair in front of the window drinking my coffee and joining some squares to My vintage blanket I was thinking about life, our life, our 2011 life…

It is strange how our hole life has changed since the invention of the internet…

Do you think sometimes about it? How our grandmothers used to live and how we are living today? How..

with just one click I can go to your place…

with just one click I can knock to your door (and it is always open for me)…

with just one click I can be at your home, in your very own and personal environment …

with just one click I can watch your children grow…

with just one click I can see how you’re spending your days…

with just one click I can take a look at your wips, get some inspiration and dream…

with just one click I can feel that you are sad or happy…

with just one click I can feel that you’re in love or in a very very bad mood…

with just one click I can leave you a sweet message to brighten up your day, tell you that I am thinking of you, that I admire your work, I feel your pain or joy or just tell you : Hello!…

with just one click I’ll be with you while it is still 10.00 a.m here and it’s maybe in the middle of the night there, where you are, in the other part of the world…

with just one click we can be together wherever we are…

with just one click I can send you kisses, warm thoughts and hugs…

with just one click I can wish you a beautiful day, a wonderful evening, sunshine and colorful moments…

with just one click…

Sucrette

Yes, the world is a much smaller place because of the internet. I am happy to know that I can “talk” to other people, who share the same interest, from all around the world. I may not always talk to my neighbors on my street; in fact, sometimes I try to avoid them! However, I always look forward to “visiting” my blogging friends.

I often think about how fast the world has changed in such a short space of time. It must seem astonishing to the older generation! Lovely blanket. xx

So true. I often think I spend way too much time surfing the web, reading blogs, etc. and if I didn’t do that I would have time for all those things I sometimes don’t do because of “lack” of time. If it wasn’t for the web my mum’s blanket would’ve been finished by now, my house would be cleaner and tidier and I would have more time to read books πŸ™‚

Yes you are absolutely right! I especially love how we can travel and zoom about the world through our computers. Of course there is the language of crochet that speaks for itself anyway – lots of oohs and aahs as I see inspirational pictures. However, we can even read (with the help of the translate button) blogs where we don’t speak the same language. As you have shown, you don’t even need the same language to swap patterns – not with your brilliant diagrams you don’t. I’ve seen scenery from all over the place, made visits and been on holiday. I used to have crochet skills but I never knew what could be made with them until going online. Books were never as so full of patterns and ideas as the blogs I visit and ravelry of course. I have no idea how I managed before the Internet!

Your blanket looks beautiful, I love the greens you are using.

What a lovely thought provoking post. I have been thinking about this a lot recently too. I find I am much more inspired to make things having looked at other people’s blogs. I buy fewer magazines, I probably do a bit less housework! I also don’t ever feel lonely, there is always someone to “listen” to and chat back to. It really is like having a virtual coffee and chat round at a friend’s house. We really do live a privileged life. x

    Absolutely spot on, Angie.

I have to admit that although I am up to my elbows knitting hexipuffs for a beekeeper’s quilt, but after my one click to you this morning, I find myself looking at your squares and wondering if I could manage to fit in another granny blanket…. total craziness, considering the length of my queued projects BUT IT’S SO GOOOOOOOD!

    Have a great day
    x
