A grannies triangular shawl

Hello my friend! I am very happy to see you here today. The grannies shawl is easy to crochet. It is made of different joined squares and half squares for the upper part of the triangle shawl. Let’s have a look at a simple drawing to show you the look of the final shawl. As you probably guessed, the final shawl is made of more squares than in the drawing below. This is just a symbolic picture to show you the construction of the shawl starting with the squares 1, 2, 3 etc and finishing with the half squares in the upper part of the shawl (to have a straight upper edge). I will add pictures of the final shawl when I finish crocheting it.

So, let’s start with the chart of the square.

The last round (in black in the pic above) is for the joining. I am crocheting it in cream. (pic below)

And this is the chart of the half grannies. The triangles that we will use to give a straight upper edge to the shawl. This half square is not worked in rounds. After each row you have to cut the yarn and close the row. And start a new row without turning your work. The last row (in black) is actually a round. The round for the joining part.

Now I will show you how to join. After crocheting square 1, you crochet square 2 and join it to square 1 with its last round (round 5 in black)

After the square 2 joined to the square 1, you join the square 3 to square 1 like in the pic below:

Now that the first 3 squares are joined, you have to join square 4 to the others. Please note that square 4 is joined to square 1 in its corner. See the pic below.

And just like that you continue joining your squares. Once you reach the dimensions you like for your shawl you start crocheting the half squares and join them as you joined the squares to finish your shawl. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook for the crochet along that will start on February 1 2023. Pictures of the making and the finished shawl will be added later to this post.

Do not hesitate to ask questions in the comments section or on social medias, I will be happy to help as much as I can. Sorry again for not making a written pattern. I still can’t do that.

Thank you for reading.

Love.

Angie

Hello

Hello there. It’s been a while. I missed so much this little place of mine. How are you? I don’t even know if you’re still here πŸ™‚ So many things happened, so many changes in my life. I was surprised reading my old posts and discovering that the last time I wrote was in 2014. Charly was even not born yet πŸ™‚ It feels stange. I am writing you today from my little home in Bordeaux. We moved here one year ago leaving our beloved Lebanon. The situation there was becoming unbearable and it is for the future of the children that we decided to move. Leaving my family, my friends and my home there, leaving everything behind and just shut the door was one of the hardest decisions I took. The first year in France was very hard. But I am thankful now that we made it. Now the children are happier in their new school, they made new friends… and we are kind of settled in our new environment. Life is not easy every day. I miss my family and I miss Lebanon every single day. But I am happier now in Bordeaux. I love my small home here. The people are nice and friendly. The weather is fine. I crochet and sew every day. And I am grateful for the little things. Have to move now… I came to update the shop and here I am writing a blog post :)))) I guess this shop update will have to wait. I am leaving you now sweet friends. Take care, surround yourself with colors, have a little me-time every day and be happy!!! Life is good.

With much love,

Angie

We’ve had a wonderfully sunshiny beautiful week in Turkey (Letoonia club – Fethiyeh). Enjoying the sun, the beach, the sand in our toes πŸ™‚

We’ve really needed this one week vacation away from everything to recharge our batteries (mine was really really empty πŸ™‚ )
