The traditional granny square

Good morning sweet friends,

How was your weekend? Hope that it was a little less cold in your part of the world…Here it was sunshine with a good 18 celcius d. so yesterday the girls played outside and had so much fun after weeks of gray and rainy days stucked indoors 🙂 Sunshine again…yes spring is not so far anymore …

I’ve made more squares for my Love Birds blanket…I’m getting a little bored from this square 🙁 …so I must work on something else in parallell if I want to be able to finish it …yes 121 squares is something huge and I can not work it without crocheting another wip at the same time… for the distraction 😉

Some of you asked me how I begin a new row when I don’t want to change the color and cut the thread… Well I’ve made a small graphic for you to understand this small trick…it is so easy …

Here is the graphic of the traditional granny square I’m making for Love Birds (the first 4 rounds):

and here are the symbols used:

As you can see in the graphic, you have to close each round with a sc (U.S)  instead of crocheting one ch and a slip stitch. With this sc, you’ll be able to stay in the corner ( hope you’re understanding what I mean 🙂 ) and begin a new round with 3ch instead of the first dc (U.S) !

For each Love birds square, I crocheted the first 3 rounds with one color and then the next four rounds in another color…

and round8 with the lovely turquoise color (I’m so in love with this color, thank you so much for all your kind comments concerning my joining colors…now, thanks to you, the turquoise is surely a winner 🙂 ) and then I’ll join my squares with a line of sc (U.S) with the darker turquoise ! (You can see a small sample of the result in this previous post)

So, my sweeties, this is it! I have now to find a new wip so I can work on more than one project…yes, I am not a monogamous woman (is that an english word or translator is giving me wrong translations?????) I can never stick on one project at a time …

Have to leave you now… and go see my box-of-left-behind-wips 😉

Have a wonderful week!

P.S: Thank you so much Olga, Heidi, Carol and Cynthia  for the versatile Blogger award! That is really sweet from you 🙂 THANK YOU !

Love Birds: A small sample :)

Good morniiiiing!

This is for you a small sample to show you how I’m gonna join the squares of Love Birds. I’m so in love with this blue-turquoise-teal color that I did not help myself using it as a joining color 🙂

I made a granny round in turquoise for every square then I joined the squares together with a line of sc (U.S) (dc U.K ) (m.s France) with the dark turquoise.

and I love the result 🙂 love love love!

What do you think??  Is it good or will it be better with a white classic joining? or some other color you’ll suggest? I really would love to have your opinion…Remember: It is a very big blanket for our double sized bed and the walls are light blue in our room…

Voila voilou 🙂 Hope you liked it!

A big big thank you today for three lovely ladies for giving me The Versatile Blogger Award 🙂 (Yes, I received it 5 times this week and I am really spoiled 🙂 ) Thank you Barbina, Laura and Helen! I am back!

Yes, I am back! Oh how I missed you my friends and how I missed blogging, visiting blogs, leaving comments, writing new posts… I can say that I am back from a kind of hell! Everybody got sick in this family and when somebody was feeling better, somebody else was getting worse etc…we’ve been ill and then better and then ill again all of us :(… A special kind of very bad virus… I’ve been a nurse and a sick mummy at the same time and that was one of my worse weeks …Today, we are all feeling a little better, the girls are still at home resting…they are still very weak but today is a better day…

During this crazy week I’ve crochet a lot… yes, I crocheted between wiping runny noses, taking fevers and giving medicine to everybody…I crocheted when I was feeling a little better between a headache and another…The crochet was the only thing that was keeping me away from getting completely crazy and out of my mind…I’ll show you today some progress I’ve made to Love Birds…

I’ve crocheted 32 squares so far and I’m loving them…I’m loving each and every one of them…

and I’ve chosen two colors for the joining…wanna see?

I love this light turquoise…It is one of my favorite colors and it is beautiful in our room where the walls are light blue…mmmh…(Love Birds is a bed spread for our room)

I have a small idea on how I’m gonna joinall the squares with these two colors 😉 …Will make a small sample for you my sweeties to show you next time and I’m counting on you to tell me what do you think…

Have to go now…a lot of work is waiting for me…but before leaving I want to give a big BIG  THANK YOU to two lovely ladies for giving me the versatile blogger award! Thank you so much Jill and Gramma Rita ! I am very honored to receive such a wonderful gift 🙂 You both really made my day!

Sending you lots of love, hugs and kisses…

See you very soon (I’m crossing now my fingers)

Slow progress…

Hello lovelies!

Wooww I felt  really really blessed by all the wonderful comments you’ve left on my rainbow ripple! They were my only sunshine during these horrible days I’ve been through…

I’ve been so ill during these past days…A very bad cold with a very high fever and strong headaches…my small daughter Sarah too … We’ve stayed in bed, drinking hot tea and not feeling good at all… 3 hole days at home without holding a hook I think it never happened to me before 🙂

Thank you SOOO MUCH for all your sweet words … my medicine 🙂

Today, I’m feeling better…(Sarah too 🙂 )

and I have some pics to show you ( these were taken before I even finished my rainbow ripple but I totally forgot to post about them ) It is some slow progress I’ve made to my Love Birds bed blanket…

Today I feel very strong and I feel that I can crochet all day long 🙂

Hope you’re feeling at your best 🙂

Take good care and stay warm!

Rainbow ripple : It is done!

Bonjouuuuur 🙂

Today is a perfect day to reveal : My Rainbow ripple blanket 🙂 Yes, it is done!

The weather is sooooo bad here, so grey and rainy that a little colorful post is welcome …a little colorful I said? A little too colorful 🙂

Prepare your sunglasses my sweeties and let’s jump into a wonderful world of colorful crochet 🙂 Are you reaaaaaaaaadyyyyy? I bet you are 🙂

Rainbow ripple is crocheted with a 4.5 crochet hook using Nako Vizon a 100% acrylic yarn.

The colors are used as following: Dark green – Turquoise -Dark blue – Purple – Pink – Red – Orange – Yellow – Light green and then Dark green again etc etc as they come in a rainbow…alternating the number of rows of every color as in Lucy’s ripple

The crochet pattern I followed is here 🙂

Did you noticed my “orchidées”… It will make again flowers very soon 🙂 yaaaay!

Here it is laying on the floor of my craft room where the light is not very good in winter days…

Here is a close up of the edging:

I’ve made a simple picot edging on the rippling sides only ! Oh how I love picot edgings 🙂

And here is Rainbow Ripple on the green sofa:

Now the girls are fighting who’s gonna cuddle under it tonight and every night 🙂 It is the first time they fight and I am mouth open in a big smiley face 🙂 Yes, they are fighting for a piece of crochet I made with so much love 🙂

You can take out your sunglasses now 😀 hehe

Have a wonderful day my friend!

Sending you a rainbow of happiness through this post…

Bye bye
